J.S. Bach: Six Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin BWV 1001-1006 (2016)
When Sungil Lee was fifteen years old, he had chance to play the Bach Ciaccona in front of the legendary cellist Gregor Piatigorsky. As he saw the young violinist from Asian culture, playing the European music, he remarked.“This is why Music is a Universal Language, we may look different, but what we feel at the basic level is essentially the same like love, sense of righteousness and jealousy.” And he gave him an advice on practicing. “Always practice with a purpose! Each practice session should have a goal to achieve something” The advice, he still remember with each of his practice.
More than four decades later, it will be exciting and interesting to see how this young boy’s interpretation of Bach has evolved with all his orchestral, chamber music and solo experiences.
Bach's unaccompanied violin sonatas & Partitas is music that is beloved by the public as well as by performers throughout Centuries. Now we want to share the music with you by the artists who has poured his experiences and knowledge into this Great Work.
